We valorize agro-industrial waste in an innovative way by creating technological biofillers that can be used in the world of plastics
Are you a plastic industry looking for new innovative and ecological materials?
AgroMateriae will provide you with biofillers optimized for your needs
Are you an agro-industrial company looking to valorize your natural by-products?
Forget about your problems of disposal, AgroMateriae will give them a second life
Our idea is that of a platform capable of transforming agricultural by-products into new materials for the plastic industry, simultaneously solving the waste management challenges of agro-industrial companies and meeting the demand for new eco-sustainable materials in various sectors of the plastic industry
Reduction of the material cost to which the biofillers are mixed
Enhancement of the properties of the material to which the biofillers are mixed
Development of different types and grades of biofillers according to the customer's needs
Large-scale production with validated and repeatable processes
• Reduction of the carbon footprint of the material which the biofillers are
mixed
• Valorization and re-use of not food-competitive renewable wastes
• Increase of the biodegradation rate of biodegradable plastics
Customizable properties
Low moisture content
Controlled and repeatable particle size distribution
Plastics from renewable sources are generally derived from first-generation feedstocks in competition with food, such as corn, sugarcane, and sugar beets, which are specifically cultivated for material production. AgroMateriae's biofillers, on the other hand, stem from non-edible waste that is transformed into truly sustainable new raw materials through green processes.
Thanks to their natural origin, our biofillers can increase the biodegradation and/or compostability rate of biodegradable polymers from 10 up to 40 times. Therefore, by using our biofillers, finished products can achieve certification for greater thickness, making both the environment and your end products happier.
Development of circular applications where the waste generated by a supply chain returns to the same supply chain as a new finished product.
Turning waste into valuable products within the same supply chain brings the concept of a tangible circular economy to life.
Since their carbon footprint is lower than that of polymers, biopolymers, as well as petrochemical and mineral additives, the use of our biofillers results in significant environmental benefits.
The low carbon footprint of our biofillers is attributed to:
• Low transportation emissions (zero kilometers)
• Valorization of waste otherwise destined for landfill or incineration
• Utilization of low-impact industrial processes
Thanks to our customizable and tunable processes, our biofiller can be utilized with thermoplastic polymers and/or biopolymers, as well as with thermosetting polymers and elastomers, employing many different processing techniques

AgroMateriae was founded after three years of research conducted in the laboratories of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Following the excellent results obtained at the laboratory scale, the company filed a patent application for the WPL (2019) and gained accreditation as an innovative start-up by the University of Modena, with the goal of transferring its technology to an industrial scale.
In parallel, between May and October 2020, AgroMateriae participated in the Emilia-Romagna Start Cup with the aim of improving its management and business knowledge. In December 2020, it emerged as the overall winner of the National Innovation Award (PNI), one of Italy's most prestigious and important start-up competitions.
In July 2022, AgroMateriae became a part of the Tampieri financial Group in Faenza.
