We valorize agro-industrial waste in an innovative way by creating technological biofillers that can be used in many different material applications
Our idea is that of a green industry capable of transforming agricultural by-products into new sustainable raw materials, simultaneously solving the waste management challenges of companies and meeting the demand for new eco-sustainable materials in various industrial sectors
Economical viable products
Enhancement of the properties of the material to which the biofillers are mixed
Development of different types and grades of biofillers according to the customer's needs
Large-scale production with validated and repeatable processes
• Reduction of the carbon footprint of the material which the biofillers are
mixed
• Valorization and re-use of not food-competitive local and renewable wastes
• Biofillers are recyclable and biodegradable
Customizable properties
Control moisture content
Controlled and repeatable particle size distribution
Development of circular applications where the waste generated by a supply chain returns to the same supply chain as a new finished product.
Turning waste into valuable products within the same supply chain brings the concept of a tangible circular economy to life.
Bio-based content
Our biofillers have 96-100% of total renewable content of 96-100% according to EN 16848, 98-100% of renewable C14 according to EN 16640 , 97-100% of renewable C, H, N and O elements according to EN 16785-1.
Tot Bio-based [%] | C content [%] | Bio-based C14 [%] | CHNO content [%] | Bio-based CHNO [%] | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
GTF | 96-100% | 43-46% | 98-100% | 93-96% | 97-100% |
ESF | 96-100% | 12-15% | 98-100% | 61-66% | 97-100% |
SFF | 96-100% | 42-25% | 98-100% | 88-95% | 97-100% |
WGS | 96-100% | 47-51% | 98-100% | 94-97% | 97-100% |
Carbon footprint
The Carbon footprint (CFP) of our biofiller is currently under certification according to ISO14067 standards. The expected value are lower than that of conventional mineral or petrochemical fillers.
Compostability and biodegradability
Our biofiller meets the requirements of EN13423 (Industrial Composting) and EN17033 (Soil Biodegradation). When added to certificated compostable or biodegradable resins, our biofillers enhance the compostability/biodegradation rate, allowing for higher certifiable thickness.
Food contact conformity
We have biofillers grades that conform with European regulations 1935/2004, 10/2011 and 2023/2006 regarding food contact safety.
Recycling
Our biofillers are produced by the recycling of agroindustrial residues, and we are obtaining the certification for CAM requirements.
AgroMateriae was founded after three years of research conducted in the laboratories of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Following the excellent results obtained at the laboratory scale, the company filed a patent application for the WPL (2019) and gained accreditation as an innovative start-up by the University of Modena, with the goal of transferring its technology to an industrial scale.
In parallel, between May and October 2020, AgroMateriae participated in the Emilia-Romagna Start Cup with the aim of improving its management and business knowledge. In December 2020, it emerged as the overall winner of the National Innovation Award (PNI), one of Italy's most prestigious and important start-up competitions.
In July 2022, AgroMateriae became a part of the Tampieri financial Group in Faenza.
